Self-care is a very popular topic and I totally believe in it. The definition of self-care is the practice of taking action to preserve one's own health. It also goes on to say the practice of taking an active role in protecting one's own well-being and happiness.
I teach this to all of my students, you are in charge of yourself. I believe that we have to actively focus on making our happiness and well-being a priority. Happiness comes from within, we can not allow outside factors to control our happiness.
Everyday, try to give yourself at least 10 minutes of self-care time. Your self-care might look different than someone else's and that is okay! Do things that make you happy and allow you to decompress from the day!
Here are my self-care must haves!
Comfy PJ's- YES! This is a big one. There is no feeling like wearing something soft and comfortable.
Sheet Mask- Unlike other masks, sheet masks actually feel refreshing. I love how afterwards you get a moisturized and glowy look!
Jade Roller- There is something so soothing and calming when you roll your face. Also, it helps with circulation! Put it in the freezer a few minutes before using to get a bonus cooling feeling.
You can even jade roll on the left over serum from the sheet mask!
Hot Tea- Hot tea will forever be one of my favorite drinks. I love how every tea contains different benefits. Need calming? Need help with digestion? Need to help an upset stomach? There are tea's for that!
Light a Candle or Turn On a Himalayan Salt Lamp- Set a soothing ambience! Smell your favorite candle or absorb the benefits of the lamp! Himalayan Salt Lamps have been said to help enhance your mood.
Watch My Favorite TV Show- I love the show Bones, it just makes me so happy and I love all the characters.
Mediation- After extremely stressful days, I have found listening to a mediation app really helps me calm down before bedtime.
